A modern restoration of a historical building
Restored in 2018, the carriage house at Howard Steamboat Museum is a modern facility with amenities to suit many event types.
We are located in Jeffersonville, Indiana a few minutes from downtown Louisville, and within 20 minutes of East Louisville.
Event Spaces
This building is a historic gem. It started its life in Louisville, KY, as the 5th Street entrance to the 1883 Southern Exposition, or World’s Fair.
The Howard family bought and relocated it to this campus in 1889 as a horse barn. Later, it was used as their home while the mansion was constructed.
In 2016, the Howard Steamboat Museum’s board of directors launched a two-year campaign to repurpose the historic building into a premiere events venue on the museum’s 2.5-acre campus.
- Located on 2.5 beautiful acres of fenced grounds, the Carriage House and the Howard Steamboat Museum are ideal for photos.

- A charming Bridal Suite for the bride’s finishing touches before the ceremony
- Laundry House, 1901 building that can be purposed as a Groom’s retreat or small meeting space

Caterers Delight
With a separate foyer often used for setting up catering. Your vendors will love the uninterrupted access our space provides. Where they can set up, serve, and clean up without disrupting the rest of the party!
Extended Veranda
Invite your guests to join you in our temperature-controlled veranda. Perfect for a micro ceremony or additional seating for larger parties. Cocktail hour, photo shoots, or even a live band!
Abundant Space
Rent a tent and enjoy the beautiful outdoors with your guests—in a cool breeze or under the night sky. We can maximize your guest count to 300 by including an outdoor dance floor, dining space, and/or ceremony!
Private Bridal Suite
Our private bridal suite is located in the loft area of the main venue. There are a few rooms that offer waiting and preparation areas.
Uniquely, it offers views of the wedding guest below inside the venue, as well as outside if events are set up outdoors.
Private Groom’s Suite
Located separately, but right next to the main venue, we have a private groom’s suite where some of the wedding party can gather and get ready.
